Teaching Opportunities

Want to gain valuable teaching experience at the Global LLC?  We offer teaching opportunities for both undergraduates (as Q Facilitators) and graduate students (as Associate Instructors). The following job descriptions will tell you a little more about each position, the qualifications, benefits, and how to apply.

Undergraduate Students – Q Facilitator

  • Applicant must have successfully completed a Q199 course at the Global Living-Learning Community
  • Attend trainings during Welcome Week (move-in required two weeks before classes start)
  • Assist at all Welcome Week events
  • Facilitate Q199, a 1-credit course at the Global Living-Learning Community
  • Prepare weekly lessons based on the Q199 course syllabus
  • Be responsible for all grading and class management
  • Attend weekly Q199 Instructor meetings during the fall semester
  • Create a community for new and returning students living at the Global LLC
  • Be professional: able to respect confidentiality, handle classroom conflicts in a professional manner, and be available to assist students during and outside of class

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience teaching, leading discussions, and/or facilitating groups (summer camps, youth groups, club leadership, etc.)
  • Strong interest in international affairs, globalization, and world politics
  • Residence within the Global LLC during the fall semester
  • Charisma and ability to engage an audience


  • A $650 stipend per Q199 section taught
  • Early move-in to the Global LLC at no cost (two weeks before classes start)

Graduate Students – Graduate Assistant

The Global Living-Learning Community is a residential living-learning community located in Indiana University’s Southeast Neighborhood and home to 120 academically focused students who share an interest in languages, culture, history, globalization, and world affairs. Global LLC students represent over 20 majors (International Studies, foreign languages [Spanish, Chinese, Russian, etc.], Political Science, Economics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, etc.) and speak over 20 languages. The majority of Global LLC residents will study abroad while attending Indiana University.

The Global LLC GA will work closely with the three Global LLC staff members (Director, Brian Gilley; Associate Director, Vera Marinova; Associate Director, Peter Roeth), and will provide support to students planning co-curricular and extra-curricular events that meet the Global LLC’s mission of being a multilingual, multinational, multicultural, multidisciplinary residence hall.
